in DepthI just wore these for the first time on a short 5 miler with a lot of ups and downs. They are really heavy shoes and this can be a plus or minus. They are really designed for medium to heavy backpacking. They are the BEST shoes I have worn so far for descending. My foot never moved on the descents which meant stability and no black toenails. Although they are all leather they didn't need much break in time. I did notice some rubbing on the inner part of my right ankle. UPDATE: I now wear these on almost every hike no matter the season. My feet don't sweat in them when it is warm but they stay comfortable in cold weather.
