Although this route has some woods roads, most of it is a difficult bushwhack especially when the prickers are in full "bloom". There are also private property issues which make the hike longer than it wood be otherwise!
Park at the New Jersey State Pheasant Farm on Rockport Road. Walk across the road and turn left following a woods road to a viewpoint that has some views of the farmland in the area. The trail turns to the left and continues up the hill. When a woods road branches to the left and heads northeast, take it and cross aright of way at .7 miles. This road eventually meets another woods road which is posted and requires you to turn left or north to avoid the private property. As soon as possible turn back to the northeast and fight your way through the prickers in season. At 1.7 miles you will cross another right of way and have to search on the other side for a way to get back into the woods. After fighting off some more dense vegetation, the going is easier for the last .25 miles the summit. Follow the same route back to the car.
